In many countries, the law enforcement system uses lethal
injections as a method of capital punishment, which is considered more humanity
to the current hanging method in Singapore. However, capital punishment by
lethal injection also comes with a price, a burden, especially for
pharmaceutical companies. This makes me think a lot, thus I drew the picture
above to depict the problem. The law enforcement system requires pharmaceutical
companies to produce three lethal injection of Pancuronium Bromide, Sodium
Thiopental, Potassium Chloride. However, due to morality issues and afraid of
gaining bad reputation, those pharmaceutical companies refuse to produce the
products (especially Pancuronium Bromide and Sodium Thiopental). Thus, due to
insufficiency of those products, the death queue is so long, increasing the
time waiting to be executed, which is an extremely depressing period for those
inmates. As I am developing my career in pharmaceutical industry, it is
important for me to be aware of those issues to better grapple with future
changes.
