The universe must have had a day without a yesterday...
What do you think of this brilliant statement?

In January 1933, the Belgian mathematician and Catholic priest Georges Lemaitre traveled with Albert Einstein to California for a series of seminars. After the Belgian priest detailed his Big Bang theory, Einstein stood up applauded, and said, "This is the most beautiful and satisfactory explanation of creation to which I have ever listened."

@Richard

I think there's no must. It's just one possibility that agrees with the general theory of relativity and the astronomical observations we have made so far. Two notable observations that have led to the widespread belief that at some point a big bang has happened were Hubble's observation that the universe is expanding and cosmic background radiation. No one knows what can happen in future.

Manu...

I posted this quotation because it is interesting, just as your comments are also interesting.

Sometimes the weirdest statements must be accepted as scientific.

This is actually an extended version of Creationism.

I think Universe does not undergo our limited ability to perceive time.

Einstein has been one of the worst fathers in history. A good father is in any case better than 100 infantile scientists.

Universe may also be an endless circle.

Aquinas saw no contradiction in the notion of an eternal created universe. He thought that we know that the universe had a beginning by faith. So probably he would understand the big bang as providing no prove of creation. BTW, I have no problem with faith, because most of what I know of quantum physics and relativity is by faith: I believe what scientists say. I understand some of the maths, but the relation  of maths with reality is something that I must believe. For example, I know it is false that all numbers are less than 10^1000, but if I begin to count, 1,2,3,... maybe I will be tired before I get to that number, resulting that I believe _by evidence_ something that is false.

In the end, with many sources of information, you choose what you believe to be true.

Mi Sha...

You definitely understand why I posted this quotation.

We don't have to believe it or even agree with it, but it does suggest an interesting possibility, and it makes us think.
Unfortunately, we'll never know the answer, but it's fun to ponder it.

Thank you for your intelligent comments.
