Unfortunately, because of the time difference, (I'm 9 hours behind Germany) it looks like I missed a lot of good chat. Like Graham's thread about spousal rape. It was fun to read, but then it got removed. Oh well. I'm not trying to revive it, but one thing I did want to say is that, in California anyway and a few other States, you have to have a person's consent to surreptitiously record them, which means if you do, one penalty is you can never use anything they say on tape in court against them. By parity of reasoning, I think the same rule applies to videotaping someone without them knowing it. That's would get suppressed on a suppression motion in a criminal court so it could not be used at all. But, it's an interesting idea, Graham. I have to say, in reading almost all the posts, I tend to agree with sum.1. That may surprise everyone, but I think his comments were fair and reasonable. I think he's just being a bit more protective of men, which I find nothing wrong with. I d And, I don't think he's the least bit misogynistic.
Anyway, I hope everyone likes my new avatar. I changed it last night because my old one was losing me respect. Not that I have much too lose to begin with, since I already feel like I'm on the Titanic and half the ship is under water. I only picked the old DDR (East German) Coat of Arms because I think it looks kind of noble, sort of pretty, not because I think everything the DDR did was fantastic. I was going to put up a picture of a cute kitty in a German hat, but the picture was a bit too fuzzy. So, I just selected a "logo" from another extinct country that would be non-controversial. Does anyone know how to shrink down a photo so it fits the oval logo window on one's profile?
Now I’m sure that you do it on purpose to choose flags of suppressive regimes. At your age you should surely know what Apartheid is. I’m curious which flag you’ll use next.
Ok, you like Germany, extinct dictatorships, white supremacy and need a flag that neatly fits into the round shape of the italki avatar. I have the solution for you that combines all your favourites: the flag of the German Reich, 1933-1945.
I'm not sure which I want for my Avatar, the East German Coat of Arms or the South African flag from the Apartheid years...
There really seems to be a disconnect here, or perhaps it is deliberate. Miriam is right, where do you go now?
