What impact do people commuting to work from a village to a city have on life in the village?
It seems to be a strange question. I've been racking my brains for an hour and couldn't think of any convincing argument. What do you think? Commuters get up early in the morning, commute to work, come back late in the evening, have their dinner and go to bed. That's it. Perhaps, if at least half of the population commute then there is a particular impact. I don't know what to say... Help, please

Well, commuters buy properties in the village which if they do on mass will increase property prices in the village and make it harder for young village couples to buy in their own village. Then they are less likely to buy groceries in the local village shop, or use other local facilities so in time they may close. They are also less likely to get involved in local community events and sports teams. I think they could have a lot of detrimental effects. Where I live they have even complained that traditional village festivals are too noisy!!
