Fake Smiles
How do you feel when you have to force a smile, when dealing with a colleague for example? Are you able to spot the fake smiles of others?

I always fake a smile. Scares the shit out of people. If I can't fight the urge to smile for real I cover my face or dive under the table. Once I got thrown out the restaurant because of this. I dived under someone else's table. Turned out it was someone important. People are very intolerant these days.

I heard Russians are said to hardly ever smile. E.g. Robby Williams "Party like a Russian":

We are people who may answer "like shit" when asked "how do you do" and then we hear "me too":)

It's not difficult to tell a fake smile from a genuine one, as people who are really happy smile with both their mouth AND their eyes. In a "Say Cheese" smile, their eyes don't change.
That said, I still prefer a fake smile to real indifference or rudeness, because I acknowledge that these people are making an effort to be polite or socially agreeable.

@KP - It's true! There are Russians living like 4 houses away from me in my estate and when they first moved in I used to greet them when passing them by, but after the fourth or fifth time of being ignored I just stopped.
