Top of the morning to you!!! Used by Irish people only, really?

Hi!

Does anyone know if the expression "Top of the morning to you" (Meaning: Good Morning) is normally used in the US??? I've read that it is usually used in Ireland but that's not exactly what the Irish people say.

Can you guys help me, please?

Hello Willians!!

I can confirm that the expression "Top of the morning to you" is not used in Ireland. Many people from other countries say this to Irish people even though I have never heard it in Ireland! I guess they saw it on some cartoon or something to do with a Leprechaun but I have no idea where it comes from.

I hope that helps!

Conor

I've heard it used in old (black and white )films, but never heard anyone say it, which is a pity cos it's really nice.
