We had a situation on sumo wrestling.
Do you know the news about below?
A sumo-wresling refree offered several women out of the ring on wednesday April 4, despite their attempt to give first-aid treatment to the mayor of Maizuru City in Kyoto prefecture who had collapsed while giving a speech. The incident, which was widely reportd in Japanese media, has stroked a gender discrimination row and highlighted the role of women in a society that is trying to keep up with the times while cliniging to its deeply traditional roots.
The sumo ri
ng is deemed a sacred place where females are forbidden to enter.
Right. You know it a lot.
Thanks for the comment.
I saw the news when it was reported here in Taiwan. I remember thinking while watching how ridiculous it was. Some traditions are worth preserving, but discriminatory ones should evolve with the time. To enforce an arbitrary misogynistic tradition so vigorously in a life and death situation is highly inappropriate. But I think the Sumo Association apologized for the incident, right? So they do recognize it's not the right thing to have done.
