As for the question "Where are you from?", it depends on what questions you get asked, for example: "Honnan valósi vagy? / Hová valósi vagy? / Honnan jöttél? / Honnan származol?" - these are the most common ways Hungarians would ask if they wanna know where you're from. The answers can be for example "Orosz/norvég/svéd (etc.) vagyok." Which means I am Russian/Norwegian/Swedish etc. (So it refers to the nationality). Or you can say the name of the country and add the suffix "-ból/-ből", for example: Oroszországból jöttem. (Literally: "I came from Russia." = I'm from Russia.) Although sometimes it comes with the suffixes "-ról/-ről", for example: Új-Zélandról jöttem. 

As for "Where do you live?" (Hol laksz? / Hol élsz?) you need suffixes again, the most common is probably "-ban/-ben." For example, you can say "Párizsban lakom." (I live in Paris.) but sometimes we add "-on/-en/-ön", instead of "-ban/-ben", for example "Pécsen lakom." (I live in Pécs.)

Budapesten lakom. Kecskeméten, Miskolcon, Nyíregyházán, Szombathelyen, Gyulán, Kaposváron, Bátaszéken, Kiskőrösön, Sárospatakon, Marosvásárhelyen, Eszéken, Kassán, Késmárkon, Kolozsváron, Ungváron, Szegeden lakom.

But there are a few exceptions, which you can only learn, I think there is no rule: Győrben lakom, Sopronban Debrecenben Hatvanban Veszprémben lakom.

For the cities and villages in the foreign countries, we always use -ban/ben: Londonban lakom. Párizsban Milanoban New Yorkban Torontoban Kairóban Moszkvában Tallinban Malmöben Marseilleben Prágában Bukarestben lakom.

Új-Zélandról jöttem. Hawaiiról jöttem. Teneriféről jöttem. Izlandról jöttem. I think it is ról/ről because these are islands. (szigetről.)

The rule is the same if you travel to somewhere or arrive from somewhere.

Holnap Németországba megyek. Holnap Ausztráliába repülök. Holnap Japánba utazom.

Tegnap hazajöttem Finnországból.

Izlandra költözöm dolgozni. Hawaiira megyünk nyaralni. A Húsvéti szigetekre megyünk két hétre.
