I'm not sure about that.... my mind when hearing something looks or is visceral goes straight to gory or bloody.

Viscera is where the word comes from which I understand is a word for guts/intestines in a casual usage. Visceral can mean that its relating to that. Do you have context?

Your definition is right, but Bobby is right too -- sometimes it can refer to bloody or gory.  Visceral most often refers to an emotion so strong it is said it 'tears your guts out", an emotion you feel physically.

We really need more of the context of the sentence to help.
