The scope of your discussion is so wide that we cannot give any merit to it here, but this has been a big matter of difference among many philosophers and critics of beauty and aesthetics. Philosophers such Hume and Hutcheson believed that bauty is subjective and depends on the beholder. Later Kants states his paradoxical statement that beauty is both subjective and universal

However, perfection in any of these things is not desirable: something that is slightly asymmetrical is often more beautiful than something that is perfectly symmetrical. Chris's comment inspires my imagery of languages .

The interesting thing is that the opposite word of diversity is universe. Diversity means to have various character and apparences. On the other hand, univers means to unify and the same contents and similar figures.

Look at the sky. Universe is shaped by various planets, keeping the balance of well organized by the law of gravitation. The night sky always make people feel happy. Why? because it is the harmony of diversity and universe.

Here you might remember the word, university as a school. If it was a place where various people get together to learn, it would be more beautiful.
