Is it my responsibility or my father's responsibility? The language of my ancestors

In my country Sudan ,people speak Arabic,but some tribes have their own language which is different of ours.My father speaks that language as well as  Arabic, but unfortunately I didn't inherit it from my father.After I had  grown up,I realised the value of it,My father and I are working on preparing a dictionary for that language.I feel embarrassed about what would I tell my children someday.

@Hanji
Yes,correct
But that language is so difficult, and you have to start from scratch, it is unwritten language.You have to live among those people for a long period of time to gain it,or at least to spend alot of time with my father.But after all ,I agree with you on Yes There is still a lot of time.

I don't think you need to feel embarrassed about it. You are learning it. It should be admired.

Nobody has responsibilities about what you didn't learn or your father didn't teach you.

Learning is an action that nobody insists. Education is an virtue that someone withdraw other's talent. If your children want to learn your local language in the future, help them and withdraw their talents. There is no time to regret. There is no time to think about whose responsibilities.Take a benefit of time. right?  :)
