Hourly rate start from $10.00 :)

Hello,I just would like to know, what is exact meaning of '' Hourly '' ? When I look for a teacher and click on her/his profile, there is an expression which says that '' Hourly rate starts from $10.00 '' I am thinking that hourly is being used for a lesson which for an hour, but generally the price covers just 30 minutes lessons or 45 minutes lessons, could you share your thoughts about that word?

Thank you

In Russia we tell astronomical hours (60 min) from academic hours (45 min). Maybe some tutors here follow the same policy. Or it can be just a bait :(

It also might be that they have a package deal - single lessons are $12/hour but a package of 5 lessons costs $50.00.

An hourly rate is for a session of 60 minutes. The test/introductory lessons, or however they are phrased in English, are a different lower rate for 30 minutes. And, I believe you can buy package deals too at a reduced rate. But, when they say $10.00 and up, they might want to charge more per hour for some people. All teachers set their own rates so you’d have to ask the teacher for the exact rates and details.

Your definition of the word 'hourly' is correct. The reason why is that the most of the time the teacher offers a trial lesson at 10$ per hour but it doesn't mean that his normal lessons cost 10$ a hour.
