How do new tutors in italki catch your attention? New tutors are still building themselves in the first few weeks. I wonder what makes you check on their profile and even leave you booking them? Thanks!

Mostly low prices. As long as they are native speakers and look like they know what they are doing.

What I look at first is their description - It has to be well-written and likable. And then they should offer reasonably priced trial lessons so it doesn't feel like too much of an investment to just check them out. (The actual lessons don't have to be as cheap, of course. Once I know I like them and we can work well together, it doesn't matter if they are new to the site!)

There are some new tutors that correct notebook entries and give some contributions in the answering section. I really appreciate it and keep in mind their name. I tried to book lessons with some of them, then other variables had to be taken into consideration. For instance the quality of the internet, I have a very low tolerance for bad internet.

For English for example, there are some teachers very active with the discussions forum, writing interesting posts or articles on language learning. If I ever would consider taking English lessons I would choose one of those teachers active on the forum.
