The passive voice may be wordy, but it serves a valuable purpose. When you don’t know or want to reveal the actor is the best example.  „I was robbed! Maybe I don’t know who robbed me. What am suppose to say, „Someone robbed me?“ I was robbed is shorter and easier. Or what if you know the actor but don’t want to reveal who it was? Passive voice is helpful there. 

what about it? What do you want to know? Some reason engineers seem to use it way too often and it dilutes the statement and makes it too wordy.
