Umar
People from your country

What is your expression when ya see someone from your country on italki and he/she is not here for learning ?
what would the other people from other countries think of you and your people after he/she meet those people ?

I hardly ever see Jordanians here, or maybe there are many of them but not all of them
are active. I treat people the same way, it all depends on their actions on italki.

If someone is good, then he/ she is good. If someone is bad, then he/she is bad, or let's
say their actions are good or bad. Whether they are good or bad, their actions don't really
reflect the reality of others from their own country. I totally agree with Sara!

If people from other countries would think badly of me because of a bad Jordanian they
met on italki or any where else, then they are judging and I don't need to please them, nor
I need to apologise for others' mistakes.
The same applies if someone hated me around here, he/ she shouldn't judge other Jordanians
because of me. I represent myself, and others from my country also represent themselves only :)

Never seek the acceptance of others, Omar. I mean don't try to tell others on italki or any where
else that you are different from a bad person they met from your country, because if they were
shallow enough to judge you before they know you well, I'm sure they will keep judging you no
matter what you say. Just be yourself because this is all what matters.

@Omar

There are a few people there :D They are not active, though.
In Balkan jokes, Montenegrins are usually the lazy ones. :D

To be honest, I've never met anyone from Montenegro here. I'm the only one, I guess.

Omar, why 'from your country' and not 'from your planet'?:)

Yes, people do generalize and if they see many people "from the same country", "of the same gender" or even "with the same name" doing the same thing, people expect similar behaviour from other people of the same country. Or they make conclusions about country's culture. They even might be right.

Still, I value personal freedom.

Because of this I don't care much about (1) public opinion (caring about public opinion would be against personal freedom) (2) countires. Besides, "public opinion" is not really important in Russia in general. When my friends influence me, it is because I take their example, not because they would think bad of me when I disagree.

So when someone from my country misbehaves, I just think it is his own business.

I have noticed that here are few of Syrians I don't know why and they were good and respectful

however I'm not responsible for bad behavior of any other Syrian ,in every where there are bad and good people it has nothing to do with Nationality or citizenship
