I would probably focus on accent reduction because as a French person, my accent is awful. English is a poly-morphous language. Because it has borrowed words from Germanic and Old English in first instance, then Latin, Greek, French (...) a lot of borrowed words remained the same but they are pronounced differently. Therefor, letters pronunciation changes all the time : Wild ( Waïld ) Wilderness ( Weelderness ). It's hard to re-learn all the word with a correct pronunciation, but I like it. Also, when it comes to speaking English rapidly, I lose the track ^^ French tends to speak English with a "kissy mouth" ( articulating all syllables), adding extra-swallowed H, and it's absolutly impossible for me to pronounce the "The".
