Experience Sharing: Reading Helps Me to Improve My Listening Skill.

Have you ever experienced your learning English like this, you can understand the videos and audios, but you cannot repeat exactly the expressions you heard?  I have!

I have tried to overcome this weakness by writing down relate expressions on paper to remember them, but it seemed didn't work. This month, I read a book very carefully and don't ignore any points that confuse me. I find that it is easy for me to repeat exactly relate expressions from videos and audios now. I think the reason is that I can understand the inner logical structures of expressions through reading. Reading help me internalize relate sentence rules.

This is my experience, hope it can value you in your learning process.

My experience is similar to yours.  When I am listening, the speaker is usually going fast and my attention is focused on grasping the meaning and content of what they are saying.  When I am reading, I can go at my own pace so I notice the grammatical structures more.  I think some time spent reading and some time spent listening is more effective in improving my language skills than spending an equal total time just listening.

Yes, Lawrence, I am fully agree. It is the same method that I also use. And reading ALOUD (even for several minutes) is even better for understanding the logocal structure.
