French high schools I’m a bit confused as to how French high schools (or lycées) work.  I was told that it’s only three years long and during the first year you take general classes.  Between your first and second year you choose a “fillère” and then take “cours en rapport”.  Is a “fillère” like a university major?  What’s a “cours en rapport”?

High schools in the USA are four years long and are quite different.  Thank you for your help in clarifying this matter.
