Intelligence, in my opinion, is something congenital. And that’s what keeps the world going. One has to hope that he got the good mix of genes. Education isn’t absolutely enough. You have children from poor families who used their intelligence to achieve their goals. On the other hand, children of privileged families who couldn’t find their way.

Interesting. Tests with figures or numbers I did not have any problem but creating a new word by unscrambling was really difficult. It was rather a problem due to my poor English...  I somehow reached 25, maybe not so bad?

There can be some cases, but I think children's talent highly depends on their environment, and their environment depends on parents in which they find values in life. So not especially because of genes.

Alfred Binet, the french psychologist who created the first intelligence test, said « intelligence is what my test measures ».

@John you are partially right, one can prepare himself to pass a given test. But this tests are multidimensional and adapted to the cultural background of the person.

So they are effective to put up people in different groups. They mesure something real, a certain verbal ability for instance or an aptitude to logical thinking that usually isn’t acquired only by learning.
