Why there is so much left accounts here? I mean accounts which aren't active from a long time even longer than a half year?

People sign up, discover that you get out as much as you put in, and move on to the next shiny app.

It would be great if the profiles abandoned half a year and over ago were automatically deactivated (not deleted, just deactivated) and disappeared from the language partner search page. Because the way it is now, sometimes I stumble upon a profile with a very interesting introduction, see that I have many similarities with this person, I like their attitude, I'm happy and want to drop them a message and then I look up and notice that this person "visited 7 years ago"... italki whyyyyyy

When someone has not been active for 6 months it is unlikely they will return.  Rebecca above is an exception.  Many people join, as John says, to try to find a language partner, often for English.  After a couple of weeks without success they give up and are never seen again.

As Phil says, they don't understand that, in order to learn English or any other language, you have to make an effort to take advantage of the opportunities offered here, and not assume that a partner is the only way to proceed.  For many a partner is probably of less help than the other possibilities available.

Many people join italki to look for a language exchange partner but because of an imbalance in demand for different languages they can't find one, and so they eventually give up.

I have been here to learn English for a while. I know some people just showed up once then disappeared forever. That does not surprise me because only a small part of learners may acquire a second language and use it fluently.
