The more details are given, the more confidence is gained.

For me, an intermediate English level, I have to face two choices at the moment: to study difficult materials or pick up some easy points. I decided to pick up those are easy but ignored by myself.

Recent I read some materials regarding telephone conversation. Some materials are just one page or a little more. But there is a material which has 176 pages. No doubt in this material so many details are involved. I always don't feel confidence in my spoken English. After I finished this material, I don't worry so much about phone conversation as before.

My opinion is, for intermediate learner, focusing on details might be a nice way to gain confidence.

It’s OK to focus on details but don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Have the courage to speak with Native English folks who, I’m sure will help you along. I’m at the early stages of learning Spanish and I’m being realistic that my vocabulary and knowledge of Spanish is not good enough yet for me to try to talk with native speakers here.

but you seem to have a good grasp of my native language, so go for it and good luck.
