I have not been on Italki for sometime as a student, before I'd be able to find an 'instant tutor' if I needed it, it does not seem to be working or maybe it has changed? Anyway, if there is a French native, or someone with good working knowledge of French  and English who can look at the below and let me know, if this is a good  English translation, if I am on the right lines.

Une démarche spécifique dans la région des Grands Lacs

Mis en œuvre en coopération avec le COMESA, le Projet de facilitation des échanges commerciaux dans la région des Grands Lacs a pour objectif de remédier aux blocages logistiques et administratifs aux postes frontières surchargés. Il cherche également à réduire la corruption et le harcèlement des commerçants, surtout quand ce sont des femmes, doper les économies locales et régionales et réduire la pauvreté.

A cet effet, le projet veut apporter des améliorations matérielles et logistiques au niveau des frontières et des installations par le biais de réformes des politiques, de procédures, et d’opérations de renforcement des capacités. Il est ainsi prévu de : (i) financer la construction d’abris pour les commerçants qui font la queue aux frontières ; (ii) installer des tourniquets automatiques pour accélérer le franchissement de la frontière et réduire les contacts physiques (et partant le harcèlement de la part des agents des postes frontaliers) ; (iii) former les douaniers au respect de l’égalité hommes-femmes et d’imposer les fouilles de femmes par des personnes du même sexe.

Ce projet, même avant résultats, peut inspirer par sa démarche des actions en faveur du commerce transfrontalier de produits agricoles impliquant particulièrement des petits opérateurs notamment du commerce transfrontalier informel. En effet, les actions d’amélioration des conditions de passage des petits opérateurs aux frontières (construction d’abris, mise en place de tourniquets automatiques, obligation de fouilles des opératrices par des agents de contrôle féminins) et d’instauration de la possibilité de porter plainte par le canal d’un numéro vert auprès d’un organisme fiable en cas de tracasseries contribueront à améliorer l’environnement commercial.

English Translation

A SPECIFIC STEP IN THE GREAT LAKES REGION

Implemented cooperation with COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa), the plan to facilitate commercial trades in the Great Lakes region, has an objective to correct the logistical and administrative blockages to the overloaded boarder points. It also seeks to also reduce the corruption and harassment of the traders, especially when these are females, boost the local and regional economy, and reduce the poverty.

With this effect, the plan wishes to bring  improvement to materials and logistics to the standards of the boarders and facilities. Via reforming policies, the procedures, and operations to enhance capacities. It is therefore planned from: (i) funding the building of shelters for traders, who  queue at the boarders, (ii) installing automatic turnstiles to accelerate moving over the boarders and reduce physical contact.  (And, hence harassment from the boarder agents). (iii) form customs of equal respect men-women and impose women’s searches by persons of the same sex.

This project, even before the results, can inspire by its steps of action in favour of trade on both sides of the boarder of agricultural products, implicate particularly smaller operators. Notably the informal trade on both sides. In effect, the actions of improving the crossing conditions of small operators at the boarders, ( building shelters, putting in place automatic turnstiles, obligatory searches of female operators by female control agents). And, establishing the possibility of making a complaint by the channel of a green number closer to a reliable body, in the event of torment, contribute to improving the business environment.
