This topic was showed sometimes ago. I recalled at least twice. The first one was very funny. I remember an Egyptian said "Enjoy our terrorism in my country" by mistake instead of "tourism".
Now I see new members so let's share your funny stories.
When I made an American friend 15 years ago, my English wasn't so good.(Now still it isn't good though). We exchanged telephone address(how can I say? we didn't have smart phones yet at that time.) He sent a message, "Let's keep in touch." I was very surprised and confused. I thought i was sexual harassment because I didn't know the meaning of the phrase."Does he want to touch my body? What? " Now, I know it.
Welcome back, It's been a while since the last time you wrote a post here.
Anyway, back to your question. There's one time my cellphone was pickpocketed on my way home. Then, there was a phone call from a guy who claimed that he found it on the road. He asked me for money as a reward.
It really pissed me off that I blew up. My neighbour was in my room, watching me in frustration, suddenly said, "Tell me about it".
I was perplexed for a moment. " I-I-I have already t-told you," I stuttered.
In the end, I found out what tell me about it is all about.
Thank you for the initiative of writing an interesting question. I enjoy your story.
Terecia, sorry about that. Did you report the police then?
"I-I-I have already t-told you," was funny. I can imagine how your friend was puzzled.
I didn't report to the police, I wasn't able to speak Chinese fluently, so it would lead to another problem.
She wasn't puzzled at all. Tell me about it means that one has already about something that someone has because s/he has it themselves.
I was the one who perplexed by the phrase she calmly stated.
