Brazilians are very friendly!  I went to Rio de Janeiro last february and it was very very hot (38°C). It's usual to try Churrasco and beans (Feijoada). Beautiful beaches at Copacabana and nice music (I love Bossa Nova and Sertanejo) :)

They say Rio is dangerous but nothing happended to me (hope I was lucky).

@John

Depends on what you define "spicy", well, I will guess that your reference is indian food as you mentioned. And yes, no, we don't do that here :D- Brazil has very very very few influences from indian culture, unlike Europe and the U.S (two places where I have lived) and where the presence of Indians and their culture and food are e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e. I heard that in Britain it is even considered a "normal" daily british food.
We actually like some type of spices, condiments or seasonings but it has to be something moderate. Curry is definitely not something here and would scare the hell out of many Brazilians who have never tasted it. We're happy with garlic, salt and some chillies in our daily cooking.

But to be honest, I find the brazilian way of cooking much more spicy or let's say, with much more taste than most of European countries that I have been to and that I found the food to be totally bland.

Loved it when I was there. Very friendly people, gorgeous beaches and amazing meat. One curiosity though, why don't Brazilians like spicy food? I know it's a generalization but every Brazilian I've met finds spicy food unbearable. I didn't see any Indian restaurants in South America!

It’s been a few years since I visited Rio and São Paulo. Rio was an extraordinary city full of verve, excitement and culture. Lots to do with great restaurants and stores. I found the language tough to learn but fascinating. I’d love to return one day.

My image is that Brazilians are very happy, warm and bright people. I've never seen a sad Brazilian :P
