Finding your language partner - A deadlock or a process ?
Well, every day a lot of people are looking for language partners on this platform and they keep looking for weeks or months. So I thought to give it a try and replied on every discussion where they are looking for a language partner. But there was a catch, being a male I only replied on same-sex member's discussion. I was not trying to be rude as I was either commenting on their discussion or sending them a friend request mentioning them I am also looking for a language partner.

But to my shock, I got only one reply.

Now, in some discussions, I saw people were discussing the importance of user name or about your profile, how much active you are on this platform and many other factors but nothing worked.

So a question to all, what do you think, is finding a language partner a deadlock where you can't do anything apart from waiting and sending requests to everyone or to someone who you think can be the best fit for you or is it a process where if you follow certain rules you can get a study partner easily.

I think it is a process.

When I started using italki (years ago) it was a bit complicated to find someone who had a real commitment talking about learning or practicing a language. At that time, my English wasn't that decent, so... there are a few people who are willing to talk to someone who still struggles when communicate.

Your native language doesn't have lots of demand (my humble opinion). Many people are looking for a language exchange, so it might be possible they don't reply to your messages because they're not into Hindi or they're looking for native English speakers.

Also, I would suggest you write something on your profile, such as your interests, what you are willing to offer... there are many things you can share so that other people can get to know you a little bit.

I can't complain about my experiences here, most of them have been good ones. It took me time to find the right people, I never gave up. And now, I'm in the point that I'm not looking for language partners because I've been practicing for years with the same people. Anyway, I just wanna tell you that it takes times :) and it worth.

@Nikher - Your account does not allow people to send messages to you.

Nikher: Congratulations to you for actually participating in the community in real discussions. Now that you’ve changed your settings to enable receiving messages, things will surely improve. (Oh, you may want to consider actually writing something in the “about me” section, so potential language partners will know something about you.) I see you responded on several language partner discussions, for example the one by Alissafari — he never got back to you? After you, a user named Mojtaba responded — he seemed motivated, so did he contact you, or did you contact him? Why not / why didn’t that work?
