Why there is no "Accent exchange partner post" here on itlaki?

It is well understood that most of the people are here to learn foreign languages. But I wonder if anyone here would be interested to do accent exchange instead of language exchange!

Is it because changing your accent is harder than learning a language?

Ohh I forgot to ask which accent id your favorite.:D British? American? Australian? New zealand? or any other?

Wish you all have a great day!:)

It's important to have an accent that is not difficult to understand, but it doesn't have to be a particular native one.
I think people want to understand all kinds of English unless they live in a city where people have a certain accent.
Having a good vocabulary and grammar is more important.

I don't know many accents, I'd say I prefer British( RP I guess, but others can have similar characteristics) over the 'typical' US accent. I really like their [əʊ] sound.

I think it's because learning an accent isn't necessary for learning a language. People speak with an accent which is acquired through various factors but it's natural, not forced. Native speakers have accents - and they vary a lot! Every non-native fluent speaker I know speaks English with their native accent. To my ears, nothing sounds more fake than a non-native speaker speaking with an American or British accent as there is actually no such thing and so they end up sounding weird.

Accents seem to be a really hard, but interesting thing!
In Russia we usually learn 'BBC English' (at least we try :D), though, I find London and Cardiff accents really understandable. Also American accent in general is pretty easy to understand, unless it is a Texas accent, you know :>>

Koreans learn American accent in English, so never interested in other accents. And getting fluency itself is more important than accent for most people here.

Hi Troglodyte,

nice topic😀 I was thinking about it recently as I intend to look for a Scottish language partner to learn their accent Because they sound non native speakers so they are close to the way that we speak English with.

Someone on Italki once offered to teach me one of the Arab accent so I think this issue is already exist.

I prefer listening and imitating the British accent.
