Yes I mean it can be useful to have someone on the same level to interact with and work on the way we are learning the language for instance. The time difference (13h) make it also often hard to maintain a conversation with a Japanese person.

Now it's all clear - why did you say so in the first place ;)? In your OP it just sounded like you are utilizing your language partner just for your sake, not for your partner's.

I heard there are many Japanese communities in Canada, so if you dare to join their events etc, the time difference should not be a problem for you.

I think you can find a native Japanese speaker in your area on Italki search?

Apologies if my comment sounds stupid.

But I would like to say: why not you book a Japanese lesson here on Italki if you only want to practice Japanese? You should be able to find one that suits your budget and your needs.

If you don't want to pay, you could initiate a language exchange (looking at your language combinations, I am sure you will find someone. You have a solid fluency in 3 different European languages that Japanese people want to learn).
