Hi! Is there any nikkeijin who can speak English? I'd love to have a chat and ask some questions :)

Ok, I just sent you a friend request, even though it might be better if you switched your contact permissions from „friends only“ to „anyone“, so that people can contact you. I’m willing to answer your questions.

Ah, good to know. I would be curious to see how that Japanese ethnicity angle would differ with any other diasporic experience.

@miriam I am not a nikkeijin. I am writing my degree thesis on the topic and I would love to insert a testimony of a nikkeijin(even more than one if I find willing people). I just would like to ask some personal questions about the experience of being a nikkeijin and the problem of identity.

Nikkeijin (日系人) are Japanese immigrants or descendants of Japanese immigrants: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_diaspora;. I guess I’m a nikkeijin because my mother is originally from Japan but moved to Germany.

@Cato
Are you a nikkeijin yourself? What kind of questions would you like to ask?

Do you mean 日本人 (にほんじん / "nihonjin" / Japanese people)?
