A Revealing Hypothetical
For those of you who haven't seen the Matrix, there's a scene in which the main character, Neo, learns kung fu nearly instantaneously by uploading the knowledge into his brain (much like a computer).

If you could do the same for any or all of the languages that you are currently learning, would you?

In other words, if you could upload a language into your brain, becoming fluent in a matter of seconds, would you do it?

You can't stop at languages. What if you could download all knowledge, memories of all experiences? This to me takes your humanity away. I vote not to get the language downloaded. I want to experience the good and bad of learning

"it's not the destination, it's is the journey." I thought the same exact thing.

@Rosco I'm with you all the way! It comes down to that perhaps trite saying: "it's not the destination, it's is the journey." I'll take the good and the bad of learning and everything else in life as well.

Totally. I would upload Chinese and be done with it.

@Miriam I completely understand! I can see how, at least for some languages, we might prefer the upload.
