Topic: Environmental Issues
*conversation starter*
Hi everyone!

I have just read an article, that in one Spanish costal town, a beachfront resort has sprayed the beach with bleach in an effort to ‘protect the children.’

I think this is completely outrageous, and over the past few years my concern for the worlds lack of knowledge; of large companies (and industries) who abuse their power to exploit our earth, has grown tremendously.

What do you think of this or any other recent environmental issues?

One municipal official, Agustín Conejo, said his actions had been motivated solely by a desire to protect children. “I recognise it was an error,” he told the broadcaster Canal Sur. “But it was done with the best of intentions.”

I think it is but one example of the incompetence of those we're supposed to trust.

It also disturbs me because it shows how fear and hysteria are used to justify invasive and destructive practices with no supporting evidence that they do any good.
