Does 'think like a native' actually work?
Let take me as an example. I'm a non-native English speaker who set myself a task to attain nearly as fluent and coherent as a native. One of my common tips is 'To think like a native' when it comes to learning a foreign language, which sounds lucid but still leaves uncertainty for those, like me, who've lived for more than decades in the non-English country have not been able to change their thinking as a native person.

It takes a very long time to reprogram your brain from the logic of your native language to the logic of a new other language. The reason is very complex and involves brain science and biochemistry. Now matter how close you come to being native like, you will always be more comfortable using the logic of your native languages, that is the languages you learnt as a very young child by acquisitation and not by learning grammar rules alone.
