Why do more and more women in contemporary China not want to get married?
<div>My personal view is that women's shifting roles and elevated status are allowing the necessity of marriage to erode.</div><div>With the development of social welfare, the government began to provide basic social security for its citizens, easing the most basic burden of survival with various welfare systems, and public power weakened the role of paternal power in the family.</div><div>The development of industry, on the other hand, has created more employment opportunities and the awakening of female consciousness has given all people relatively equal access to resources, with men no longer being the only source of resources.</div><div>That is, we don't face as much risk anymore, and the meaning of the family's existence to defend itself against risk is being weakened. Families are also no longer dependent on men for resources, women are earning money, and men's right to distribute resources is being diluted.</div><div>So it feels like the marriage that is desired for women nowadays should be the one that “<span style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">I find more fun to spend my life with than I do alone, and that's why I got married</span>”,&nbsp;not for some external reason like getting older, being pushed by the family, etc.</div><div><br></div>

<div>I think women globally are now realising that they don't need to marry to be happy. While finding a person you love and can spend your life with is a wonderful concept, in reality it is not that simple. </div>

<div>That particular social revolution in China has already taken place in Western countries.  From the 1960s onwards women started to change the balance of power in their relationships with men.  Although some may disagree, I think it's fair to say that this is now equal in the home and in the workplace in mainstream western culture.  China is catching up, and fast.</div>

<div>Really?</div><div>I believe that men and women are mutually exclusive. Not a competitor. They have to make a living together. The man has hard  and violence of instinct , and the woman is full of tenderness and emotion. Neither is superior. But they excel together.</div>
