Defintely for showing off .....

@Irene, I do not see why someone should show off with reading books. Many people do not read, and it doesn't make them less successful than others. Some people have intensive lives and learn a lot from reality. I also had periods during which I haven't read even a single book. I think that the only idea of "ranking" people depending on how much they read is snobbish.

Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad who is an Arabic writer said “ I read because one life is just not enough for me “

and I’m totally agree with him.Reading means live other’s life no matter where is or when is it and that will give you the ability to understand human being and will help your mind to think deeply.

For me to increase my vocabulary and enjoy a new story to read. I also read (non-fiction) books to educate myself so my goal varies from time to time

I like reading because I value knowledge in whatever form or genre. When I want to be inspired, I read inspirational books. When I want to gain knowledge about finance, I read finance books. Reading is both leisure and a necessity for me. I love reading articles online.. It helps me asa teacher and it broadens my horizon to know a nd read about a variety of topics, even those not in my field.
