Please tell us about your story. What do you think? Does white privilege exist?
Doesn't not matter the language that you write, only your answer.

I absolutely agree with Beth. Even in a brown country like mine, it very much exists. People sometimes attribute it to our British colonial history but it actually predates that. Some set it back to the Islamic conquest of India when the fairer Persians and Turkic rulers were the top dogs over the generally brown locals, but it predates even that.

It existed in ancient India when the Aryans of Caucasian origins used to prevail over the far more ancient (and far more civilized) locals. Even now an otherwise plain girl with fairer skin is seen as more beautiful than a dark girl who is actually far more beautiful. Likewise, a fairer man is automatically seen to be of higher status. We Indians are racist for sure.

I think white privilege exists almost everywhere in the world. Generally, there is a white economic ruling elite that supports itself by exploiting the labor of black and brown people. There is also a general disregard for black lives as seen in the repeated murders of black
men by white policemen. Many people explain this in non-racial terms and I believe this simply perpetuates and disguises the brutal racism.

I absolutely think that white privilege exists. And it is not just in the terms of police brutality and the targeting of black men as potential criminals as illustrated right now in Minneapolis and other American cities. Look at how white skin is seen as more "beautiful" in some parts of the world so that women bleach their skin to be lighter.

I think, the privilege along with feeling guilty exists only in ex-colonial countries and countries that used slave labour.

Those white people, that have not had slavery in their history, may not feel connected to white-black story and may have no particular interest or attitude to it.
