How can I overcome my squirminess?
Hi, how can I overcome my squirminess when speaking Mandarin? I know practice makes perfect, but there is something about Mandarin that makes me really self-conscious in a way that my other spoken languages do not. I need to overcome this squirminess to book a tutor already. What tips do you have?

maybe you could imagine this : when a person is trying to speak your mother touge, how would you think of him ? would you laugh at him when he makes mistakes ? or feel happy because someone is interested in your culture?

hmmm, maybe you can try finding a language partner and send audio clips. Not looking someone in the eye while you speak might help? haha, also if they send an audio recording back you can listen a bunch of times and practice repeating what you hear. I also watch a lot of movies and TV shows and try to listen to see if I can understand any words, and if I can I write it down and try to use it a lot haha. I feel more confident this way because I know native speakers use these phrases because I heard it myself! haha, I hope this helps! 加油!
