Group or partner lessons on italki
A friend and I are thinking of starting to learn a new language together, from scratch. (I'm purposely not mentioning the language we have in mind because I'd rather not start by considering offers by individuals to give us lessons.)

My friend lives on the east coast of the US and I live on the west coast, but I had the idea that if we take lessons online we should be able to do that together. She asked how to go about it and I realized that it isn't at all obvious to me whether such a set-up could work on italki. Have any of you done something like that here? Or do you have other suggestions as to how we might go about it? Thanks for your suggestions.

I've never tried myself what you're hoping to do but if I were thinking about it, I'd probably see what Zoom can offer for multiple people attending a single "meeting." I have a friend who does a weekly "virtual happy hour" with several co-workers, and I think they use Zoom. Your teacher would need to "host" the Zoom meeting and invite you both to join, probably. Good luck!

@Grace thanks for your comment. Yes, I was thinking of using Zoom. My question was more about scheduling lessons through Italki -- I don't think there's a way for two people to schedule the same hour. But you've made me think further and realize that might not be necessary; one person could schedule and pay, and the other could join the meeting.
