Do you prefer texting or calling ?
Hi there,I am a community teacher and had a conversation with a friend whom i had just sent a text ,she replied by calling me to give me an answer to the question i had texted about .I found it amusing and asked why she hadn't just sent a text ,she then told me she prefers calling to texting ,so now i am just wondering what other people prefer between texting or calling and why ?

I prefer texting. I only call someone if something is really urgent.

Hi Tracy! :)

Very interesting indeed!
For me, if it's a casual chat, I'd feel a bit weird to suddenly call someone just to give a reply. I'd probably use a voice message, but not a call.

For me, a call have a sense of urgency in it. Like if in an emergency situation, for example.

But each person have different preferences, I guess. 😆

I think in many places, because of the situations caused by the pandemic, some people want to hear a human voice. I think this is okay.
Also, some answers are easier to explain by speaking. Texting and email often lose a lot of the tone, mood, and nuance of language.
And some people just like to talk.

I think it depends on how big the answer is, and whether more questions need to be asked.
I much prefer texting, but sometimes the answer is long or complicated, or depends on some information I don't yet have.
I would still text though, because by texting you have told me that that is how you want to communicate. I might text back "Can I call you?" if I think that's necessary.

Hi Tracy,
As you mentioned, there are a lot of people whom don’t text. Actually I prefer texting to calling, if there isn’t any urgency.
I think people who don’t like texting may feel lazy 🤗
