Movies for learning Chinese
I'm learning Mandarin Chinese at the basic level, and am looking to watch movies in order to practice listening and learn new vocabulary. I just watched The Farewell, which was good for me because they said a lot of basic things and I was able to understand quite a bit. Are there any other movies I could try?

Hello Paul. I’d like to recommend Jackie Chan’s movies, such as The Karate Kid, Chinese Zodiac. Especially some of his movies tell stories about Chinese from American perspective. Believe it could help you to meet your learning target and understand Chinese culture.

Hi Paul,
Maybe you've already tried this, but I know Netflix has a wide variety of movies in Chinese, and you can turn on subtitles (English or Chinese) to help you understand it better. You can choose anything from kung-fu movies to comedies, it's also a great way to learn about Chinese culture! I recommend watching TV shows while learning a new language, it's short and sweet which allows you to have the chance to practice and review what you just watched without pausing it constantly. Hope this helps.

I don't have a good movie to recommend to you, but I would recommend a TV series, 《家有儿女》,which is simple, easy to understand, very suitable for beginners, just like Friends, it's a comedy, very funny.

I don't have any movies to recommend for the time being, but there's a good TV series called 安家。It's really good and about city life.
