Why do you study languages? And, do you like learning them?
Hi!
I am just curious. Why are you studying languages? For passion, job, or because you are at school?
Do you like learning languages? What do you like about the learning process? Is it rewarding to you?
Please let me know your opinions, for some brainstorming.

I have always loved languages. They teach you how to see the world in different ways, because behind each language is a whole way of life and a way of thinking unique to the speakers of that language.

Currently I am studying to improve my Italian. It is slower going than I would like, but I still enjoy it very much. If you speak the native language of a country, you can get to know the people there in a different way.

I am also studying some Swedish and I would learn a lot more languages if I had more free time.

I love seeing words or hearing sounds in different languages and thinking "Oh, that's just like .... in another language!"
It makes me happy to find that the words "mama", "dada", "papa", "baba" etc are so common across so many very different languages. It reminds me that we all come from the same place and the same genetic material.

Last week I giggled when I discovered that "Me too!" in Punjabi is very like "But yes!" in French.

I can feel the little wrinkles growing on my grey matter (brain) as I exercise it with my new language, and realise that sounds I thought were the same are actually different.

I learn foreign languages when I'm interested in a particular country's culture. I also learn languages to be able to communicate with native speakers of that particular language, and to get a job from that country

Mainly to get access to useful information that is not available in the languages I already know. (That would include interesting people who don't speak any of the languages I already speak.)

I can't say I particularly enjoy the learning process. I do enjoy it when I begin to understand things and become able to successfully communicate with someone. That makes it more than worth it having spent all that time and effort.

A clear reason is that others understand me,so it arises in me to be interested in learning.
