The fight for equality in the United States.
In the last few weeks I have seen how the United States has turned into a great fight for the equality of African American people. Hundreds of people have taken to the streets to march and protest against racial discrimination. Even despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am definitely in favor of the African American people who fight for their rights.

No to racism!

No to discrimination!

No to police abuse!

Most people would agree with you. But have you seen the spike in Covid-19 cases in the US due to these mass gatherings and the economy opening up without there being much of a handle on things? Above all: no masks or gloves. Everyone must be pretty confident that no one will breathe on anyone.

I am all for standing by what's right, but I'm not going to risk my life by going to a big gathering. From what I've listened to and read, a lot of people say that if you are staying at home and not joining in, then you're part of the problem. I resent that. I can certainly be supportive by continuing to be a non-problematic member of society just as I always have been, but I'm doing what's right during this pandemic.

Thanks for bringing up this topic. It's something we've been dealing with for decades but it seems to trending again now. I do not protest, not because of COVID, but because of safety concerns. There are so many ways to support equality. You can inform yourself. You can respectfully ask Black people questions, to understand their point of view. You can examine yourself and try to become a more open-minded person. You can learn and unlearn things. The list is endless.

Marlana: I agree with some of the things you say. Ignorant thinking will have you believe that if you're not protesting, you're apart of the problem. There are so many other impactful ways be apart of the solution, and those who deny it are part of the problem!

I know things are challenging, but if anyone has any personal questions or comments for me and is respectful about it, I'm happy to chat with you privately about this for a few minutes.

Edisson, what do you think about demolition of the Washington monument in Portland and situation with “Gone with the Wind” on HBO?
