I don't think any one nation or culture is more friendlier than another. As a general rule people are friendly, if you ignore the news media, that makes its money only from the bad things that sell. We are all pretty much the same. The rude people are few and far between. It is only three or four amongst millions who stand out for the wrong reasons.

Well, everyone on Italki is friendly. That is the nature of language learners.

Of the 200-odd students I have, only one was disrespectful and horrid. All others have been super-respectful, super-kind, and amazingly gentle.

I think internationally-minded people are the best.

I'm sure you will find everywhere extremely kind people if you learn a few words of their language and show interest in their culture.

I agree with Karen — internationally-minded people (we could call them <em>xenophiles</em>) in any country are going to be friendlier to foreign visitors. I can think of the types of people who would be friendly in my own country, and the types who would not be friendly to foreign visitors.

Having lived in so many different countries and continents and traveled (still doing it) extensively around the globe, There is no such thing as "more friendly" country.

Our false perception comes from the cultural difference and the wrong interpretation of diversified behaviour, expression form or body language.

I have friends everywhere I've been and once you understand and embrace other people's habits, traditions and mode of expression they naturally become super friendly and welcome you.

Let's not forget that we all look weird and strange to the others as well :)

showing interest and appreciation towards another culture and language is the best if not the only way to find friendly people wherever we are.
