Is it possible to teach yourself a language?

I've been learning Spanish for 2 months with 2 teachers here on Italki. I am wondering, is it possible to teach yourself a language by using all the possibilities resources on the internet (besides taking classes)? Such as; learning apps, podcasts, videos, or books.

Have you ever tried to learn a NEW language on your own? Did it work for you? I'd like to hear about your experiences!

I think that you'll be able to read and even to understand spoken language. But writing and speaking is difficult without some external help.

Oh did you mean learn totally alone (no conversation practice?). I guess you can learn to an extent, but it wouldn't be very fun, and also not very efficient. I feel that if you start speaking in your target language that's how you improve.
