What the Debian user (Antonio) said ;) ... Deutsche Welle is a great resource for reading/listening.

How did you start learning English?

Hi Zara! Well, I always give the same tip to people who are just starting with German and that is: try to find a teacher who can also speak your language. Believe me, that will make everything much easier and faster.
After some time (it depens on your ability to learn and on your motivation) you can continue learning for yourself or keep in touch with German speakers but first you have to learn some grammar. And this grammar won't be easy at all so you need someone who can explain it to you in a language you can understand.
That's the truth that many people don't want to hear.

I know your are a beginner, but read Benny Lewis' blog! He emphasizes speaking from the start. He really inspired me to pick up spanish and I have to agree that speaking as early as possible really helped me improve much faster!
