Memoirs of a Geisha Hello friends,
today I watched again the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha", starring Zhang Ziyi, Li Gong, Watanabe Ken, Yakusho Koji, Michelle Yeoh, Momoi Kaori, Kudo Yuki etc
It is a remarkable move, I think: three Chinese actresses in roles of old Japanese culture.
Did you see the movie? What did you think about it?
You liked it? Why?
You did not like it? Why?
I am looking forward to a an exchange of interesting ideas concerning asian culture.

why dont u ask the director directly,i think there might be some reason for it.
1.those chinese actress he had choosed were a hit during that time.
2.Culture are similar between chinese and japanese. would do well at the box office in china than in japan due to china's large population.
this are my opinions.LOL...

Gina, I think Japanese actresses do have the expressive force for acting in international movies.
I would be interested very much in a movie concerning the life of Geishas made in Japan, with
Japanese director and actresses/actors. Then I could compare the atmosphere, the behaviour
of the people. Does anybody know such a movie?

Then, I am missing our Japanese friends in this discussion!!
