The Love that lasts the longest is the love that is never returned - William Somerset Maugham
From my perspective, this quote expresses nothing significant to me.
Allow me to exemplify here: Love between human-beings all varies, everything varies. So for me, this quote may have applied to former loves of mine, though this quote cannot hold true forever or for everyone, when applied to humans.
However, my love for Allah has lasted the longest length of time than anyone/thing/etc else that I have ever loved and Allah is all Merciful and Loving, and thus my love is always returned.
You hold onto your feelings for someone longer if they dont love you back.
