In Lebanese culture, it is very important to pretend that you have lots of money and to care about superficial things in life like the kind of car you drive, where you live, the brand of handbag or sunglasses you carry. It is also important to know someone else's religion so you can make judgements about their politics, about their social class, background etc and whether or not you would want to mix with them socially.  It is also important to remember that Lebanon is the greatest country on earth with the best food, climate, people, history, scenery etc etc. If you want to impress people you should pretend you don't know Arabic and talk in English or French, or possibly mix Arabic, French and English in one sentence and use foreign words instead of Arabic words, claiming that you have forgotten the Arabic for that particular word. This is my introduction to Lebanese culture. :)
