I Have a dream. Respecting human beings and their thoughts is my dream. Today I signed in italki to find something which was really sad and depressing. Italki, simply, blocked someone called Padraig only because he speaks his mind in a way that someone didn't like!! That is not fair. So you will block me if some people report me?? You will block me if I didn't act according to the people's wishes?!! I do not feel safe here and I want to talk freely. I never talked to Padraig but now I really want to know him and talk to him!!
So I decide to take steps for that and if you like share me :
1-change profile pic as mine
2-on saturday write entry with title "we all padraig" and the topic will be " unblock padraig or block me like him "
3-we won't sign in to italki for 24 hours on monday
Agree and the most important are actions you suggest in order to prevent it!!!
Here is a copy of a note I just sent to italki staff:
"I think Pedraig didn't violates the community guidelines.(Chat or rant, adult content, spam, insulting other members, etc.)
I think Pedraig didn't anything that is illegal. (Harm to minors, violence or threats, harassment or privacy invasion, impersonation or misrepresentation, fraud or phishing, etc.)
So italki staff should unblock Pedraig and give an answer here to the many partner's complains.
I think it is time to italki staff unblock Pedraig, change the blocking criteria and give an answer here to these many partner's complains.
Being honest, I have never talked to him, but some people who help me in italki, correct my mistakes, etc...like Arwa and Sonia support him, so count on me
