Halloween is the Day of the Dead here in the United States (I'm not sure if it's celebrated in other countries). It was originally a European holiday brought into the USA centuries ago. Usually, people who celebrate this holiday dress up in costumes and goes out at night with family or friends. Kids in their costumes would collect candy from their neighbors by going door-to-door, this is called trick-or-treat. As for adults, particularly college students, some go out and just party all night long in their costumes :)

Halloween or Hallowe'en (a contraction of "All Hallows' Evening"), also known as All Hallows' Eve, is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on October 31, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows (or All Saints) Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration for children on Halloween. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy (sweets) or sometimes money, with the question, "Trick or treat?" The word "trick" refers to a (mostly idle) "threat" to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given. Development of artifacts and symbols associated with Halloween formed over time. The turnip has traditionally been used in Ireland and Scotland at Halloween, but immigrants to North America used the native pumpkin, which is both much softer and much larger – making it easier to carve than a turnip. It is called jack-o'-lantern.

Halloween is my most favorite holiday of the entire year. I'm going to be so sad when it's over. It's on October 31st, and the traditional greeting is "Happy Halloween!" Everyone wears a costume. Children go door-to-door in their neighborhoods (and sometimes shopping malls). They knock on the door or ring the doorbell and say, "Trick-or-treat!" They get candy. Halloween is celebrated on October 31. On Halloween, American children dress up in funny or scary costumes and go "trick or treating" by knocking on doors in their neighborhood. The neighbors are expected to respond by giving them small gifts of candy or money.
