Secondly, ask to the seller about the specifications of the item u'd like to buy. Oh i hate this part! because sometimes (or mostly) i found the online pictures aren't same as the offline ones. I ever bought bag, which appeared so good on picture, then i regretted the day i received it. And oh, shoes too! .Also clothes. I bought make-up brushes too,which keeps falling apart. The seller said its good but -_-

OHMYY! This time, i straightly say NOOOO! I have such a high paranoid about online shopping. Uhm maybe 8/10 i got unpleasant experiences. But if you really wanna buy something thats very rare and you cant find it around your neighborhood, then go for online shopping. 

First, u have to read the reviews, the reputation of the seller, how the shipping method, and any other technical issues you may need to know.
