Whats Xmas like in your home country ? It's coming into the festive season here in Ireland. On the 25th of December we celebrate Christmas Day, the day Jesus was born. It's always a magical time of the year when all family members return home from abroad and get together to celebrate with the one's they love. We eat food like turkey, ham etc. and gorge ourselves on chocolate. There's a chill in the air and the streets are illuminated by the lights from Xmas trees. All the shops sell presents and the children await impatiently for Santa to arrive. My question to you all is: Do you celebrate Xmas in your country if so what's it like ?

Part II

Christmas Eve is the main day of the holidays. People usually gather either with family and/or relatives for dinner and then exchange presents before they head off to the Christmas Mass.

Unlike in the rest of the world, presents are brought by "The Christkind" (the Christ's child) and not by Father Christmas or Santa ;)

May your Christmas be filled with love and many blessings.

Merry Christmas.

Christmas season starts here always with the first Advent Sunday and the traditional Christmas markets. For 4 weeks those markets are a magnet for people of all ages and nations. The atmosphere, the scent of roasted almonds or our hot mulled wine linger in the air while strolling around to find little treasures to place under the Christmas tree. Christmas trees are very important here in Germany. People spend millions of Euros on real fir trees each year. Families with children usually decorate their trees secretly behind closed doors. What a magical experience it always is for them to see a richly decorated and well illuminated tree for the first time.

In Brazil: It's called Natal which means "birth", so celebrating Jesus birth. We have a big meal for dinner in "Natal" eve about 9PM or later and stay awake until midnight when everybody wishes each other Merry Xmas, gifts are either on midnight or in the morning. The core meal is most usually a Red Junglefowl. In 25th we make party-like barbecue for the whole day together with the entire family (all nearby cousin's, grandparents...) and close friends, everybody's kids playing together and such.
